SPIRIT II Critical Design Review Conference

On April 7th and 8th, students involved with the SPIRIT II project traveled to Wallops Island in Virginia for the Critical Design Review Conference with NASA. In the time period between the Mission Initiation Conference and the Critical Design Review Conference, Penn State and Clemson students increased their efforts to finialize the design for the complete rocket payload and write the Critical Design Review Document to present to NASA. SPIRIT II members updated sections of the Mission Initiation conference document that they had personally worked on; this time the entire document was compiled by Kate Boland, the Experiments Team leader.

At the CDR conference, like the MI conference, there were break out groups where Penn State and Clemson students could meet with NASA engineers in a one-on-one atmosphere. Students were able to ask some of their final questions concerning the rocket design and afterwards were able to take a tour of parts of the facility.

The SPIRIT II publicity display created with microsoft power point is presented below.
